The time has come
No one can deny the significance and value
of philosophy as it relies on critical and creative thinking. A
nation without philosophical thinking remains blind to creativity
and hence will grow without critical tools to evaluate its own
culture and history. In order to grasp a full realisation of reality
of human existence and progress we need to give priority to
philosophical thinking in our educational system. This could be
accomplished by a rigour planning supervised thoroughly by experts
in the area of education and philosophy for our children in
Kurdistan. This ambitious and necessary plan is unfortunately has
not been realised yet. It does not matter how many reasons are there
for the negligence of this plan but it is important to acknowledge
that its execution is overdue.
The time has come to give a serious thought to
this matter. We need to kindle the mind of our children with
philosophy in order to make them creative and develop analytic as
well as critical skills in them. Today, this serious beginning in
the educational life for our children is inaugurated by Kareem
Mustafa who has initiated this plan to teach philosophy to our
children. I like to congratulate him and wish him success. I also
understand that this task cannot be accomplished by few individuals.
It requires support from all intellectuals, educationists and the
political authority in Kurdistan to put this plan into practice and
speed up its implication.
